Peace. It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. It means to be in the midst of these things and still be calm in your heart.

The Best Fortune

I saw a fortune cookie "prediction" a co-worker of mine received recently that made me laugh ... perhaps the strangest one I have ever seen! It reads, "You will be hungry again in one hour." What?! What kind of fortune is that? That one required a great deal of creativity, I am sure.

I cannot believe that I have just one month left of this semester! Four papers, three exams, and two presentations. Not too bad. I look forward to a few weeks of break to explore the city more and make a trip home (all those in Iowa, I'll be back the 21st - 30th!).

These pictures are from September when I had a free Sunday afternoon to visit the Mall and the new Museum of the American Indian. I was walking by the Castle (the main visitor's center for all the Smithsonians) when these 'jailbirds' caught my eye --- they were riding the CAROUSEL!!! You never know what you are going to find around here ... it's always best to carry a camera with you just in case!
