With the holidays, a busted van, and a persistent cold, it's been a while since I've blogged, so a bit of catch-up is in order! First and foremost in its news-worthiness is my cousin Ben's graduation from Creighton University on December 15. In the course of the snowy, celebratory day, my uncle Mark commented that Ben is the first Saboe male to earn his college degree --- and Ben's three fellow siblings are close behind. How significant is Ben's accomplishment and how often do I take my own educational pursuits for granted. I often find myself bemoaning the cost of my student loans that are literally growing before my eyes, but when I take a step back, I am reminded how life-altering an investment is one's education and the debt that I accumulate is the product of choices that have been very right for me at each step in my life ... down to the very last thousand or two ... or three. So, my hat is off to you, Ben ... the world is all yours, and I know you are up to the challenge.
