When I was home last evening, my sisters and mother and I took a mile trip down the gravel road to wade in the waters of the Skunk River far surpassing its banks. The last time I recall anything quite of this magnitude was during the floods of 1993 where I remember my dad plucking catfish swimming ACROSS the bridge itself ... this time, the water is not flowing over the bridge but is washing away the road and inundating the fields. We all enjoyed a bit of riesling, courtesy of Erin who is working at a new winery by Oskaloosa ... and I'm afraid we stepped on an earthworm or two!
