It's a busy, fun time of the year. Graduations approach. Folks are excited for summer warmth and travels. And I'm trying to get my life sorted out ... ! I just finished up with OB/GYN in Des Moines at Broadlawns, an exceptionally insightful rotation, and start surgery tomorrow at UIHC. I only have two more two-week clerkships after surgery (radiology and lab med/EKG), and then I'm done with my third year! I plan to take both parts of Step 2 of the Boards (a patient-based exam and a knowledge computer test) in June (so this is an advance warning you might not hear from me that month!), will be traveling out to DC in late April and mid-May for an AMSA meeting and a family medicine congressional conference, respectively, and will be flying down to New Orleans in early May for a rural health conference. I am solidifying details for my Swedish rotation next year and am exploring going to Tanzania as well and possibly completing a policy elective in DC. And then there is that residency question --- do I apply this year or wait one year before starting!!!??? Insight and answers needed, please!
All that aside, I have to share with you the lyrics from one of my favorite songs currently - "Say" by John Mayer. The 99 cents I spent to download this one from I-Tunes has been the best buck I've spent in a while ... luckily I live by myself, or my roommate would get sick of hearing me play it over and over! See what you think ... I find it to be very meaningful and a beautiful song to boot.
"Say" by John Mayer
Take out of your wasted honor
Every little past frustration
Take all of your so called problems
Better put them in quotations
Say what you need to say (8x)
Walkin like a one man army
Fightin with the shadows in your head
Living out the same old moment
Knowing you’d be better off instead
If you could only
Say what you need to say (8x)
Have no fear for giving in
Have no fear for giving over
You better know that in the end its better to say too much
Than never to say what you need to say again
Even if your hands are shaking
And your faith is broken
Even as the eyes are closing
Do it with a heart wide open
Why?
Say what you need to say (25x)
