Peace. It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. It means to be in the midst of these things and still be calm in your heart.

Friends Old and New

I always love catching up with friends old and new. This past week in Houston was no exception! I was able to catch up with Emily and our mutual friend Rachel (from the Maple residence hall days at Iowa State!) and attended the AMSA National Convention for six days --- I was busy the entire time helping organize and run our House of Delegates, AMSA's "policy-making" body where delegates from each chapter across the country vote and shape what our policies will be for the ensuing year. The hardest part of these meetings is knowing that another year of working with a great group of medical students, friends, and colleagues has come to a close. This week, my fourth year friends will be matching to residency programs across the country, and the reality is that I may never see some of these folks again, but I rest assured knowing that their patients will be very lucky people and that they will be advancing health care access, quality, and diversity initiatives throughout their lives in their chosen fields. I have one more year of serving on AMSA's national Board of Trustees, and I know it will be a good one. While it is a goodbye ... I certainly hope it's not for long!!!
