A couple of weekends ago, I was happy to have my friend Keisha visit from New York City ... we sought out a Cuban restaurant/salsa dancing club one night, went shopping in Old Town Alexandria, and watched the movie "Notes on a Scandal" (a very intense film!). But nothing compares to waiting in line for 45 minutes to get breakfast at Eastern Market! All the hype surrounding this place's special Saturday morning menu is true and then some ... we split homemade plain pancakes with fresh pecans and maple syrup and eggs benedict ... and a side of potato salad. The host was a bit surprised at my choice of the latter and gave me a hard time about it, but that too was delicious! Quite simply, it is the best --- and one of the cheapest --- meals I've had in Washington!

I LOVE EMarket Breakfast!!! Without a doubt, the best French Toast on the East Coast.
