Peace. It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. It means to be in the midst of these things and still be calm in your heart.

An early morning visit to the White House ...

I know I have some crazy ideas from time to time, but this past Saturday I convinced three others to join in one such crazy idea! Many thanks to Toby, Jen, and Lis for getting up at 5:30 a.m. to wait in line for free tickets to the White House spring gardens tour ... apparently, we didn't need to get up so early, as we were the second group waiting in line!!! Nonetheless, the self-guided tour of the trees, a mini golfing green, pictures of presidents planting trees, the children's garden, and the Rose Garden (which actually was planted with tulips!) was a lot of fun. It's not often that you get to see the South Lawn up close and personal.

I had to laugh when I saw the 'public drinking' accommodations!

See that droopy little tree? That one was planted by none other than Iowa native President Hoover!

When do they have this tour? Will I be able to go after I get in this week? I'll be there this weekend!
