After kite flying, Toby treated me to an afternoon of paddling around the Tidal Basin --- a terrific way to take in the cherry trees in full bloom! The entire basin appears as if it is rimmed with white lace. At one point we wondered if our paddleboat was sinking (of particular worry to yours truly because she doesn't swim!), saw a dead fish floating (thanks to the 'clean' Potomac!), felt like animals in a zoo for all the staring tourists, and saw a National Park Service horse eat an entire branch of blossoms ... !
